This is a rewarding profession with endless opportunities, but it's not something to jump into blindly. We'll help you weigh all the factors to find the best fit for your goals.
How to Become a Real Estate Agent in Oklahoma
These steps highlight what it takes to become a real estate agent in Oklahoma. You can select a brokerage to join before or after you pass your license exam. All Sales Associates and Provisional Sales Associates must work under a licensed broker.
- Complete a 90-hour pre-license course. You can choose from in-person learning or a self-paced online course. Here is a list of OREC Approved Pre- and Post-License Courses.
- Submit to a background check, including fingerprint scanning.
- Pass the Provisional Sales Associate licensing exam within one year of completing your pre-license course. The exam is over 100 questions long, and there are several Testing Providers throughout the state.
- Apply for your Provisional Sales License. The license will be issued to your brokerage. If you have not selected a brokerage yet, you will need to do so before receiving your license.
- Join your local Board of REALTORS®. This will give you access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and other valuable resources for your real estate career.
- Complete a 45-hour post-license course within your first year as a Provisional Sales Associate. Once again, you can take this course online or in person.
- Apply for your Sales Associate License. Your Provisional Sales Associate license expires after one year, but the Sales Associate License is valid for three years.
